66MW/24MWh Energy Storage System in Cuomei, Xizang, Connected to the Grid by SynVista

On November 25, 2023, the 30MW Phase II photovoltaic power generation project in Cuo Mei, Xizang, successfully connected to the grid. As part of this milestone, SynVista delivered a 6MW/24MWh lithium-ion battery energy storage system, helping ensure greater stability and efficiency in renewable energy output.

Innovative Battery Energy Storage System Designed for Extreme High-Altitude Conditions

This project stands out for its unique location—situated at an altitude of 4,500 meters above sea level. Such extreme elevation presented notable engineering and operational challenges. SynVista addressed these head-on by designing a custom energy storage system specifically tailored for high-altitude performance.

At high elevations, reduced air pressure affects electrical clearances and component reliability. To mitigate these risks, SynVista carefully selected and tested all system components under simulated high-altitude conditions. The battery energy storage system features materials and designs that maintain optimal function despite potential performance degradation typically caused by cold temperatures.

Advancing Grid Reliability in Remote High-Altitude Areas

This installation is among the highest-altitude energy storage stations in China and represents a significant achievement in engineering and resilience. SynVista’s project team gained valuable hands-on experience and developed practical solutions to support energy storage deployment in similarly challenging environments.

The battery energy storage system not only improves the dispatchability of solar power but also contributes to grid reliability in remote, high-altitude areas.
