SynVista Delivers Solar Storage System for Harsh Climate Project

On January 1, 2024, a landmark 1 million-kilowatt-scale integrated wind-solar-storage project successfully connected to the grid. For this initiative, SynVista supplied a 30MW/60MWh battery energy storage system (BESS). This large-scale renewable energy project highlights the growing importance of solar storage in enabling clean energy integration and grid stability—even in the harshest environments.

Engineered for Extreme Cold: Reliable Solar Storage in Harsh Climates

SynVista provided a complete lithium iron phosphate (LFP) energy storage solution tailored specifically for the project’s extreme climate. Located in a region where winter temperatures can plunge to -41°C (-41.8°F), the project presented unique technical challenges. To ensure reliable performance, SynVista implemented a range of cold-weather adaptations.

To meet these challenges, SynVista insulated the energy storage containers with thickened rock wool panels to retain internal heat. The company also applied low-temperature-resistant materials to door panels, seals, and other protective components. Its engineers carefully selected and tested key electrical parts and insulation materials to meet strict low-temperature performance standards.

Proven Performance and Global Potential

Since its commissioning in January 2024, the solar storage system has operated continuously and fault-free for over a year. This success not only demonstrates the durability and resilience of SynVista’s technology but also serves as a model for future projects in high-latitude regions such as Europe and North America, where extreme cold can impact system reliability.
